A Roaring Twenties-Inspired Evening in Support of Apex Volunteer Fire Rescue

Join us for a dazzling night of sparkle, jazz, and Gatsby-era glamour as the Apex Fire Brigade Society proudly hosts the inaugural Firefighter’s Ball in support of Apex Volunteer Fire Rescue.

Step back in time and celebrate the dedication and service of our local firefighters while enjoying an elegant evening of entertainment, fundraising, and community appreciation.

What to Expect:
Welcome cocktail upon arrival
Elegant food stations throughout the evening
Live and silent auctions featuring exclusive items and experiences
Music, dancing, and a Gatsby-inspired atmosphere
Photo station to capture the night
1920s costumes encouraged (formal attire welcome)

Proceeds from the Firefighter’s Ball directly support local fire services and community initiatives, helping fund essential equipment, training, and community safety programs.

Vancouver/Okanagan-based, BC-born Aaron Loewen plays an exciting and stylish style of retro jazz, as if it were plucked straight from the streets of 1930s Paris or a Roma caravan in the European countryside. Aaron’s made quite a name for himself in recent years on the BC music scene, regularly performing around the province either solo or with an all-star roster of some of BC’s best musicians, such as violinist Cam Boyce (Fanfare Music), clarinetist Joe Abbott (Petunia and the Vipers, Harpdog Brown), bassist Wynston Minckler (The Burying Ground, and just about any band in Vancouver that needs a bassist), drummers Paul Townsend (Petunia & The Vipers, Laura Crema), Dylan Ranney (Andrew Judah, Josh + Bex), violinist Lache Cercel (Lache Cercel ensemble), and countless others.

Aaron’s live show interweaves 1930s-inspired Django Reinhardt jazz guitar with a smattering of vocal melodies of classic American jazz standards popularized by artists such as The Mills Brothers, The Ink Spots, Fats Waller and more—though sometimes a Bill Withers or Bobby Hebb tune may sneak its way in there ;) Aaron loves to fully feature the talent of his bandmates, and often trades off lead vocal duties with his other band members for an exciting and varied live performance.

In recent years, Aaron’s various groups have performed at events such as the Vancouver International Jazz Festival, Tofino Jazz Festival, ArtsWells, Vancouver’s April in Paris Django Festival, the Ryga Arts Festival, Cumberland Wild (previously known as Atmosphere), Woodstove Festival, Redbird Kelowna’s Nestfest and countless others. He performs with his Django Jazz All-Stars regularly at live music hubs in Vancouver such as Guilt & Company, Osita and more.
